Massage Therapy

Massage is one of the oldest, simplest forms of therapy. Although it largely affects those muscles just under the skin, its benefits can also reach the deeper layers of muscle and even the organs. Massage also stimulates blood circulation and assists the lymphatic system (which runs parallel to the circulatory system), improving the elimination of waste throughout the body. Whether you are looking for a relaxing, stimulating or healing experience, our trained therapists will help you achieve your goals.

Deep Tissue Release

This massage technique releases chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and deep finger pressure on the contacted areas, either following or going across the fibers of the muscles, tendons and fascia. The purpose is to “unstick” the fibers of a muscle while releasing and removing toxins and relaxing and soothing the muscle. It is both corrective and therapeutic.

Therapeutic Hot Stone

Hot Stone massage offers you a profound connection with nature. Smooth, heated basalt stones are placed on specific acupressure points on the body to melt away knots, tension and stress. The direct heat relaxes muscles, allowing manipulation of a greater intensity than with regular massage. It’s a deep healing and comforting experience that enhances your awareness and brings you closer to your true essence.

Aromatherapy Integrative Massage

Aromatherapy uses the essential oils found in plants for their healing and medicinal properties. Although its name suggests that it is primarily a form of aroma or smell therapy, the essential oils are, in fact, intended mainly to be absorbed into the body via the skin, through massage, and the lungs, through inhalation. Aromatherapy is widely used to reduce stress, as well as to rejuvenate and detoxify the body. We offer customized combinations of essential oils for your specific needs.

Swedish

Swedish Massage is a technique designed to relax muscles by applying pressure to them against deeper muscles and bones, and rubbing in the same direction as the flow of blood returning to the heart. Swedish massage shortens recovery time from muscular strain by flushing the tissues of lactic acid, uric acid, and other metabolic wastes by increasing circulation. It stretches the ligaments and tendons keeping them supple and pliable, while also stimulating the skin and nervous system. It reduces stress, both emotional and physical, and is suggested in a regular program for stress management. It also has many specific medical uses.

Ancient Chinese Tui Na

Tui na uses finger pressure to stimulate the energy meridians used in Chinese medicine, and offers an alternative to acupuncture for those who are needle-shy. Tui na stimulates and restores balance to the body by releasing blockages along the energy pathways. Moderate to strong pressure stimulates body points to relieve stress, muscular discomfort and fatigue, promoting overall well being and vitality.

Craniosacral Therapy

In Craniosacral therapy, the therapist uses light touch on the head, spine, lower back, and hips in order to evaluate and correct the subtle movement of the cranial bones and the flow cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) through the brain, sacrum, and spinal cord. Each of the 22 cranial bones moves a few millimeters with respect to each other as the CSF moves in a tidal fashion up and down the spine. The movement of CSF is connected to, but not the same as respiration

The goal of Craniosacral Therapy is to re-establish the correct, healthy, balanced, and full flow of cerebrospinal fluid. Craniosacral therapy is a powerful treatment for headaches, immune disorders, allergies, and many other conditions. It is a safe, gentle, effective, and deeply relaxing therapy for people of all ages.

This form of massage is very similar to acupuncture, but does not utilize needles.

Shiatsu is very effective for orthopedic and sports injuries, to alleviate stress, and for any condition in lieu of acupuncture for those who are adverse to needle therapy or cannot receive acupuncture because of a medical condition.

Ashiatsu bodywalking is an ancient form of bodywork brought to us by Buddhist monks. Your therapist will support his or her body weight from overhead bars while applying different foot strokes along your body. Using the pressure of the therapist’s feet on strategic points along your back and spine provides deep relaxation and stimulates the body’s lymphatic system. It is highly effective for lower back conditions, and for clients who feel they just can’t find a therapist that can give them enough pressure.
